What each desk reads

China Desk Live — collecting

Chinese official and state-linked defense publication surfaces: the armed forces newspaper, the defense ministry, the state news agency's military desk, and two English-language portals.

Collecting daily into the production corpus. This is the only mature collection in the project.

Singapore Desk Live — collecting

One publication family: official releases from the Singapore Ministry of Defence, which publishes for itself and for the Singapore Armed Forces.

Promoted 2026-09-21 (DECISION_LOG), after 33 elapsed shadow-collection days, completed Day 7 and Day 14 human checkpoint reviews, and owner sign-off. The corpus began as a one-time governed promotion of 57 corrected shadow records; the same adapter, already run daily by the shadow collector since 2026-08-19, is now also invoked by the ordinary scheduled production pipeline, so the corpus grows from further scheduled runs going forward. Two records stay held out of the promotable set for unrepaired charset damage.

Japan Desk Shadow evaluation — not in corpus

Official Japanese-language Ministry of Defense RSS discovery from its news and site-update streams, plus a separate Japan Coast Guard English press-release shadow pilot. Neither covers all Japanese defense or maritime-security publications, and neither MOD feed represents Joint Staff or English MOD releases.

Japan remains shadow-only. The two MOD Japanese-language RSS feeds support official discovery, but body retrieval is partial: some PDF-published originals yield extractable text while most HTML articles are challenged and retained only as dated discovery metadata. Separately, a Japan Coast Guard English HTML pilot has one verified, manually authorized October 8 Day 0. The guarded daily gate was observed unset or unavailable in an October 12 read-only Actions run, so no subsequent JCG collecting-day continuity is established; linked PDF/media rights remain held. Nothing from either source family is admitted to the production corpus, and neither proves complete Japanese defense or maritime-security coverage.

South Korea Desk Shadow evaluation — not in corpus

A curated directory of five Korean Ministry of National Defense (국방부) press releases republished by Republic of Korea Policy Briefing. Original official links and bibliographic metadata only; separate MND and DAPA publisher indexes are outbound research navigation, not additional reviewed records or a production archive.

Public official-reference directory (five fixed bibliographic entries). The Korea collector itself remains isolated in shadow research: no archived Korean bodies, production records, automatic translations or independently verified military assessments are published.

Philippines Desk Shadow evaluation — not in corpus

Bounded first-party Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) public-affairs publications and Philippine National Security Council (NSC) official statements. Not a comprehensive defense, military, foreign-policy or whole-of-government archive.

AFP and Philippine NSC operate distinct isolated shadow collection and private research readers. AFP has preserved originals under review; the NSC source had no articles at the pinned October 11 snapshot. Neither is admitted to the production IPR corpus, and reliability, human source-review and rights gates remain incomplete.

Vietnam Desk Research published

Bounded research families: the Government News English defense tag, Public Security Vietnamese foreign-affairs RSS, and Industry and Trade Vietnamese energy and foundational-industry listings. The English National Defence Journal is a separate disabled military-journal research candidate, not an operating ministry source. The Government News family is a tag that editors apply, not a complete defense category. No comprehensive ministry archive or formal government-document collection.

MPS foreign-affairs and both MOIT ministry families collect on distinct scheduled, isolated shadow state branches, usable only in private research. No Vietnam originals are admitted to the public IPR corpus. MOIT rights and robots-policy anomalies remain held; the Government News dispatch and National Defence Journal candidate remain inactive. Public promotion requires source-specific reliability, human original-language, rights, custody and owner review.

Indonesia Desk Shadow evaluation — not in corpus

A bounded institutional-news research desk focused initially on Kementerian Pertahanan Republik Indonesia (Kemhan) Berita, in original Indonesian. Coverage excludes the armed forces' wider publications, ministerial decrees, and national defense-policy documents.

Kemhan Berita is collected on a separate scheduled shadow-state branch for private source evaluation. Its original Indonesian articles are not in the public IPR corpus. Fifteen dated Berita links and two historical Siaran Pers press links provide attributed outbound navigation only; neither group constitutes human-reviewed IPR citations or public archive records. Five preserved originals received preliminary review; independent Indonesian-language signoff and the Day 7/14/30 collection reviews remain outstanding.

US Indo-Pacific Reference Desk Access blocked — not collecting

Declared as a reference desk, deliberately bounded: the minimum US institutional output needed to read other desks' framing against a US framing of the same events. It is not a feed of US defense releases.

Declared scope only, and access-blocked at the edge. Probed once per endpoint on 2026-08-26 with the project user agent: the site root, the Press Releases and Readouts listing, and robots.txt itself all return HTTP 403 from the edge. An RSS endpoint does answer, but robots.txt cannot be read, so there is no basis on which to say collection is permitted. Collecting only through the one endpoint that happens to answer, while the same edge refuses everything else including the file that would state the rules, would be opportunistic rather than honest.

What a status means

What each desk status means, and what it implies about the record.
Status	Meaning
Live — collecting	Sources are enabled and a scheduled run collects into the record. Only these desks have record counts.
Shadow evaluation — not in corpus	Source material is evaluated in isolated shadow state, not admitted to the public IPR corpus or its record counts. A public desk page may separately provide scope information or approved official-source links; those are not archived IPR records.
Access blocked — not collecting	Researched and reachable in principle, but the institution's discovery surface is not available to an honestly identified collector. Nothing has been collected.
Researched — not yet collecting	The source universe is documented and no source is enabled. Nothing is collected; where a collector has been built, it has not been launched.
Planned — nothing collected	Scope declared, nothing researched, configured, enabled or collected.

Only collecting desks show public-corpus record totals. A shadow desk\'s "Not admitted" means its independently preserved material is excluded from those totals and dates; it does not mean no private originals were collected.
