WAU, South Sudan, May 25 -- The 16th Chinese Peacekeeping Horizontal Engineering Company to the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) successfully completed the rehabilitation of a main supply route connecting Kuajok, Turalei, and Abiemnhom, effectively improving the local road conditions and winning high praise from the United Nations and the local people. The 150-kilometer supply route connects multiple peacekeeping mission sites and concentrated areas of the local residents. Damaged by years of conflict, natural erosion and heavy vehicle traffic, over 100 kilometers of the road surface had deteriorated, and 15 bridges and culverts required urgent repair. To complete the mission, the Chinese peacekeeping contingent deployed 38 personnel and 22 vehicles over a span of nearly 50 days. Moving more than 20,000 cubic meters of earth, the Chinese peacekeepers systematically reinforced the collapsed roadbeds and resurfaced damaged sections, fully restoring the traffic capacity of this vital supply line.
