Summary
Machine summaryAll 521 members of the 12th Chinese Peacekeeping Infantry Battalion to UNMISS received the UN Peace Medal of Honor at a ceremony in Juba on October 20, 2026, after roughly ten months in theater during which the battalion logged over 100 authorized missions—joint patrols and armed escorts—covering more than 14,000 kilometers, alongside more than 20 humanitarian assistance activities. This is standard end-of-rotation recognition; it documents the battalion's operational tempo and extends the baseline record of China's continuous infantry presence in South Sudan, now through at least a 12th rotation, but provides no evidence of a changed mandate, force posture, or capability.
