Summary
Machine summaryThe PLAN hospital ship Daishandao (大山岛, 'Auspicious Ark') docked at the Port of Dakar at approximately 11:00 a.m. local time on September 25, 2026, as part of Mission Harmony-2026 (和谐使命-2026), marking the first port call by a Chinese naval hospital ship in Senegal. The visit extends the Mission Harmony series' established pattern of combining clinical services aboard ship with medical training exchanges at local facilities, community outreach, and military-to-military engagement — here adding Senegal to a West African footprint that has previously centered on other regional ports. The article documents the diplomatic choreography of the arrival — Senegalese military and government officials, the Chinese defense attaché, and embassy staff all boarding the vessel — but does not specify the duration of the port call, the size of the medical team, or planned patient capacity.
