BEIJING, Sept. 4 -- China-Laos Peace Train 2026 joint humanitarian medical rescue exercise will be held in Laos in September, said Senior Colonel Jiang Bin, spokesperson for China's Ministry of National Defense, on Friday. Taking international humanitarian medical rescue in a super typhoon disaster as its theme, the exercise focuses on such training subjects as joint on-site search and rescue, casualty evacuation, health and epidemic prevention, and psychological rescue. During the event, the Chinese side will also provide medical services for Lao military personnel and civilians. As the sixth exercise of this series, the joint exercise will further deepen and expand pragmatic exchange and cooperation in such fields as disaster medical rescue, tropical disease control and prevention, and infectious disease prevention and control, enhance the two militaries' capabilities in joint medical-service command, joint rescue, and joint prevention and control, and better provide quality public security goods for regional countries and peoples.
Summary
Machine summary
Senior Colonel Jiang Bin, MND spokesperson, announced on September 4 that the China-Laos Peace Train 2026 joint humanitarian medical rescue exercise will take place in Laos in September, structured around a super-typhoon scenario and covering search and rescue, casualty evacuation, epidemic prevention, and psychological rescue, with Chinese medical teams also treating Lao military personnel and civilians. The sixth iteration of this bilateral series, the exercise documents a sustained PLA medical-diplomacy track with Laos that extends beyond warfighting readiness into tropical disease control and infectious disease response — areas where PLA engagement builds influence with partner militaries. The announcement provides no detail on which PLA medical units will participate, their size, or the specific locations within Laos.
