By Qu Fatong, Luo Sen, Zhou Jie and Liu Jin LEBANON, Sept. 1 -- The Observer Group Lebanon (OGL) under the United Nations Truce Supervision Organization (UNTSO) recently visited the camp of the Chinese Peacekeeping Contingent to the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) for coordination on practical issues such as emergency shelter during conflicts and battlefield emergency support. The Chinese side briefed the observers on the camp's facilities, operational duties, and the security situation in surrounding areas. Given the frequent risks of artillery shelling, airstrikes, and other emergencies in the mission area, the Chinese peacekeepers focused on the layout of shelters, the stockpiling of emergency supplies, and emergency shelter procedures. They also provided a systematic overview of medical treatment, casualty evacuation, and logistical support. The observer group conducted on-site inspections of key facilities, including battlefield shelters, designated accommodation for female personnel, the peacekeeping hospital, the fuel supply station, and the equipment repair workshop. It is understood that UNTSO is primarily responsible for monitoring developments in several areas of the Middle East and serves as an important UN presence in maintaining peace and stability in the region. The visit was aimed at ensuring that, in the event of spillover from the conflicts, UNTSO observers could take shelter at the nearby Chinese camp and receive medical treatment if needed.
