By Cao Xu, Zhang Junhong, Zhang Yihan, Tang Guangfa, Li Wuren, Fan Chengyang HONG KONG, August 26 -- Acting in accordance with the Law of the People's Republic of China on Garrisoning of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) and the order from the Central Military Commission, the Hong Kong Garrison of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) carried out its 29th rotation of formed units on August 24 and 25, 2026, involving Army, Navy and Air Force units. The garrison's incoming naval units departed from a military port in Shenzhen at around 8:00 a.m. on August 24 and arrived at the Stonecutters Island Naval Base on schedule, taking over defense duties from the outgoing naval units. The garrison's air force helicopter units took off from a base in Guangzhou at 9:00 a.m. sharp that day and conducted the handover of defense duties after arriving at Shek Kong Air Base, Hong Kong. The incoming army units departed from their base in Shenzhen at 10:00 p.m. on August 24, arrived safely at the garrison's barracks in Hong Kong, and held a ceremony for the handover of defense duties at around 1:00 a.m. on August 25.
