JUBA, Aug. 26 --The United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) recently organized a military-police joint exercise. The 12th Chinese Peacekeeping Infantry Battalion to the UNMISS participated in the exercise together with the United Nations Police (UNPOL), the Nepal Armed Police Force (AFP), the Rwandan Formed Police Unit (FPU), the UN House security department, and other forces. A total of 142 military and police personnel participated in the exercise. Working in close coordination with the UNPOL, the AFPand the FPU, the Chinese peacekeepers completed training subjects including deployment of cordon formation, blockade, and response to armed attacks. They successfully handled multiple simulated emergencies, including attempts to crash the camp gate, illegal intrusions, and gunfire by armed militants. Closely aligned with the realities of the mission area, the joint exercise further tested the peacekeepers' real-combat capabilities in emergency response and joint operations.
