BEIJING, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) -- Upholding the one-China principle reflects popular sentiment and stands on the side of what is right; moreover, the international community's commitment to the one-China principle is unshakable, Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said on Wednesday. Lin made the remarks at a regular press briefing in response to a query on Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim's comments on Taiwan during a recent interview with Al Jazeera. "I see Taiwan as part of China, period," Anwar said, adding that "It is one China. It is accepted by all." When asked to comment on China's statement that it reserves the right to use force if peaceful reunification fails, Anwar said that if any part of Malaysia sought to break away, it would be his responsibility to preserve the country's territorial integrity. When the host asked, "So, you would use force?" Anwar answered, "Yes," adding that otherwise the country would risk becoming fragmented. Lin said that China appreciates Prime Minister Anwar's remarks. "There is but one China in the world, and Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory," Lin said, adding that China's reunification is an unstoppable historical trend.
