ZHANJIANG, Aug. 4 -- The 2026 Open Barracks Events for Hong Kong and Macao Youth kicked off in Zhanjiang, south China's Guangdong Province, on August 3, 2026. More than 200 young students boarded naval vessels, experienced weapons and equipment, and took part in such subjects as flag signaling, naval knoting, and fire-proof suits wearing. During the events, participating students will also visit the Zhanjiang Military Port and the Zhanjiang Military Culture Expo Park, watch live-action performances staged on naval vessels, and receive training in basic military skills, including drill, military martial arts, and automatic rifle field stripping, deepening their understanding and appreciation of their motherland through rich and diverse hands-on practices.
