An army artillery regiment assigned to the Chinese PLA Xinjiang Military Command conducted a multi-element, day-and-night, live-fire drill in the Gobi Desert of northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. The strike force was composed of vehicle-mounted howitzers and rocket launchers, and worked in close coordination with supporting troops responsible for reconnaissance, communication, meteorology, and other key functions. The drill tested the troops' comprehensive combat capabilities in coordinated reconnaissance, command and communications, fire strikes, and rapid repositioning.
