WAU, South Sudan, June 23 -- To cope with the complex and volatile security situation in the mission area and enhance emergency rescue and coordinated response capabilities under contingencies, the 16th Chinese Peacekeeping Level-II Hospital and Horizontal Engineering Company to the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) recently conducted a full-process and full-element comprehensive training exercise on mass casualty treatment along with multiple UN functional departments and foreign peacekeepers. Closely aligned with real-combat conditions, the exercise simulated a sudden conflict in the mission area that resulted in casualties among peacekeepers and UN staff. It focused on testing the battlefield first aid, casualty evacuation, and joint treatment procedures. Peacekeepers assigned to the 16th Chinese Peacekeeping Level-II Hospital and Horizontal Engineering Company to the United Nations Mission in South Sudan conduct casualty evacuation.
