Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian. A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson said on Thursday that China's position of firmly opposing the US arms sales to China's Taiwan region is consistent and clear. Spokesperson Lin Jian made the remarks at a regular media briefing in response to a question regarding Lai Ching-te's "Taiwan independence" remarks. Lin said the words and actions of the Democratic Progressive Party authorities and Lai himself cannot change the fundamental nature of the Taiwan question as purely China's internal affair. He said they also cannot shake the international community's firm commitment to the one-China principle, nor can they stop the historical trend that China will and must achieve reunification.
