Summary

Machine summary

The PLA Navy hospital ship Jixiang Fangzhou, conducting the Harmonious Mission-2026 (和谐使命-2026) deployment, arrived at the Port of Abidjan on October 14 for a seven-day visit that includes onboard clinical care, exchanges at Abidjan Military Hospital, and mobile consultations at Bouaké University — the first such port call by a Chinese Navy hospital ship to Côte d'Ivoire. The visit extends the Harmonious Mission series into West Africa's Francophone tier, a sub-region where previous iterations have had limited presence. What remains unknown is whether Abidjan is a one-off stop or part of a recurring port sequence that would indicate a more durable naval engagement pattern with Ivorian military institutions.
