Summary

Machine summary

The National University of Defense Technology researcher Wang Ji, a principal figure in China's high-assurance software technology (高可信软件技术) — formal verification and reliability engineering for critical weapons-system software — was honored at a joint commendation meeting at the Great Hall of the People on September 28, co-organized by the Central Military Commission Political Work Department, the State Administration for Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense, and four other bodies. The ceremony documents the PLA's use of the 'Model of the Era' (时代楷模) campaign to elevate a defense-sector technologist rather than a combat figure, framing software assurance for major weapons systems as a politically salient priority alongside battlefield heroism. What remains unspecified is which weapons programs Wang Ji's verification platforms and testing tools have been applied to, limiting assessment of the operational scope of his work.
