1935年11月，红6军团长征路过湖南新化县城，位于军团司令部旁边有一家水月楼照相馆，老板胡永康看到红军将士打土豪分田地，不拿群众一针一线，这让他十分感动，想要给红军拍照,陆续也有红军战士发现了他开的照相馆，主动来拍照留念。趁着扩红后难得的休整空隙，红6军团军团长萧克、政委王震召集团级以上22名指挥员和警卫员姜云清，在司令部前的空坪里，请水月楼照相馆的老板胡永康拍下了一张珍贵合影。当时这些指挥员都很年轻，军团长萧克当时才28岁，政委王震27岁，这也是红军长征途中为数不多的军团各级指挥员合影，每个人都精神抖擞，前排将领手拉着手，展现出红军指战员的高度团结。红军继续踏上长征路，带走了洗印的照片，但笨重的玻璃底片不好携带，就托付给了胡永康，为了躲避国民党的搜捕，胡家将底片埋在房子的地下，直到二十世纪五十年代中期，胡永康才把这些底片翻出来上交政府，最终被中国人民革命军事博物馆永久珍藏。如今随着手机的普及、人人都能拍照，传统影楼生意受到不小冲击。但在新化青石街，水月楼照相馆却始终坚守。如今胡永康的孙子胡文胜在经营照相馆，他为老兵义务拍照，还记录下解放军抗洪抢险的身影。记者采访时，胡文胜这样表达胡家人的心声：“我们新化是革命老区，这张照片是水月楼的根，也是我们胡家的传家宝。不管时代怎么变，我希望我们胡家都会一直守着这家店，守着这段历史，把红军的故事一代代讲下去。”
