装备车辆轰鸣，雷达天线飞旋。不久前，海军某机动雷达分队训练场上，一场小比武进入白热化阶段。参赛双方颇有渊源。一方是中士苏杭，另一方是预备役一级上士张燕海。张燕海曾是该部一名优秀的雷达操作分队长，服役期间，他带教出李永亮，李永亮带教出李若琦，李若琦又带出了苏杭——苏杭可谓张燕海的第三代“徒弟”。雷达方舱里，挤满了前来“观战”的官兵。李永亮和李若琦也挤在人群中，目不转睛地盯着战况。张燕海已经退伍4年了，这虽是他以预备役人员身份重回部队后的第一次复训，可毕竟“姜还是老的辣”，苏杭这个“初生牛犊”能赢吗？哨音响起，比赛课目是目标测报。这是雷达兵必练的一项基本功，要求快速发现、判别、测量雷达发现的空中目标，并按照固定的口令格式快速上报。李永亮很清楚，这是张燕海的“拿手好戏”，自己当年在上级比武中斩获第一名的好成绩，就与张燕海对他的强化训练分不开。那是2020年，雷达方舱里，日光灯嗡嗡轻响，面对屏幕上蜂拥而至的目标，李永亮急得满头大汗，终于报完一组数据——“慢了！”张燕海声音不大，但每个字都如重锤敲击心头。张燕海告诉他，屏幕上回波一跳，嘴上就得报出方位，手上就得标出距离，眼到、嘴到、手到，一气呵成。可是，李永亮每次都卡在“嘴到”上，眼睛看见了，脑子算出来了，嘴却总要晚半拍。那些天，张燕海天天陪着李永亮训练，将经验诀窍倾囊相授，最终助力李永亮载誉而归。眼前方舱内的紧张程度，不亚于当年那场比武。张燕海和苏杭分别坐在操纵台前，现场所有人都屏住呼吸，紧盯屏幕。屏幕开始闪烁，一批批目标带着批号、方位、距离、高度等信息接踵而至，令人目不暇接。张燕海还是一如既往地发挥稳定，报出的情况语速均匀、数据准确、延时极小。李永亮不由想到了张燕海总结出的诀窍：“口报上点，目测下点。”即眼睛比嘴快，就让眼睛先到，嘴里报一个，眼里已经瞄着下一个。这套方法，张燕海传给了李永亮，当然也“隔辈”传给了苏杭。可是，苏杭能用这办法战胜张燕海吗？ 5分钟的比赛时间，在此起彼伏的测报声中显得格外漫长。终于，一声哨响，比赛结束了——“张燕海测报点数比苏杭少2点，苏杭胜！”考官报出成绩。听到结果，苏杭抿着嘴，有些不好意思地看向张燕海。张燕海则直起腰，竖起大拇指为他点赞：“真是长江后浪推前浪！” “老教头”输给了自己的第三代“小徒弟”！小比武过后，李永亮刚想安慰师父两句，张燕海却欣慰地说：“你们超越我，是我最大的成就！” 话虽如此说，张燕海走下比武场却没闲着。“给我讲讲，你是怎么测报的？”他拉住苏杭虚心请教起来，语气格外真诚。苏杭也不藏着掖着。原来，这是一套新装备，自动化程度较高，苏杭将“口报上点，目测下点”的技巧和新装备自动录取、数据传输的流程有机结合，使得测报时间进一步缩短。张燕海按照苏杭教的办法，当天就在新装备上练习了好几遍，越练越兴奋：“现在装备更先进了，方法也得与时俱进，我要抓紧补补这些年落下的课，迎头赶上！”
