寸肠断处是青山红军师长陈树湘（油画）白展望作红军长征湘江战役纪念馆里，油画《红军师长陈树湘》总会让人挪不动脚步。画中，陈树湘侧卧担架之上，腹部绷带已被血洇透，嘴唇紧抿。那是他决意赴死的一刻——担架在湿冷的山路上颠簸，他从昏迷中醒来，耳畔是敌人得意的吆喝。要回击！他本能地想去摸手边的枪，可剧痛猛地将他拽回现实：身负重伤，武器已失，落入敌手。哪怕赤手空拳，哪怕只剩最后一口气，也绝不能就这样被俘！陈树湘缓缓伸手，探进缠着绷带的伤口，触到了自己的肠子，猛地绞紧、扯断…… 身体里最柔软的部分，成为了一名军人最后的武器。剧痛让陈树湘浑身痉挛，冷汗浸透军衣，但他的眼神格外清醒——清醒得让周围的敌兵脊背发凉。这名29岁的红军师长，用极致的决绝，兑现了“为苏维埃新中国流尽最后一滴血”的誓言。习主席曾在这幅画前久久驻足，叹道：“壮烈啊！陈树湘是牺牲英雄中很典型的一个。” 是啊，湘江一役，何止陈树湘。沈述清、杜中美、易荡平……还有无数没有留下名字的战士。这是怎样的一支军队？如山号令面前，从师长到士兵，每一个人都死战不退，每一寸阵地都打到弹尽粮绝，每一捧江水都染着赤红。 90余载过去，湘江的浪仍在拍岸，声声不息，仿佛在反复诉说着同一个真理：遍地英雄的血，从来不会白流；滚滚向前的铁流，从来不可阻挡。（刘娴）
