因长期透析，王戟喝水的杯子是有刻度的。每日摄入水量不能超过500毫升——这是医生给他划下的生命红线。杯壁上，细密的刻度线一道一道，成了他严以律己的一个缩影。杯上有刻度，人生亦有刻度。王戟数十年与科研相伴、与初心相守，在命运磨砺中校准价值坐标、在日常自律中修养品行操守，为新时代党员干部如何修身、如何立业，写下朴素而厚重的答案。何为修身？说到底，就是内心立标准、言行守刻度。心中的标尺锚定价值航向，尺上的刻度规范一言一行。王戟的父母为其取名为“戟”，寄寓“执干戈以卫社稷”的报国厚望。35年前，王戟在入党志愿书中写道：“只有把自己的一生同党的事业，同国家的前途、人民的利益联系起来，才能更加充实、更有意义。”正是始终以许党报国为最高标尺，王戟才能在科研道路上坚守本心、矢志不渝。中国人历来尊崇“正心以为本，修身以为基”，强调“一念收敛，则万善来同；一念放恣，则百邪乘衅”。初心纯粹，方能取舍有度、行止有方。小时候，母亲一句“唯有脑子里的知识别人拿不走”，让王戟一生笃定，人最珍贵的是精神的丰盈、初心的纯粹和本领的过硬；新婚领证后，“路过一家饭馆，简单吃了个午餐，就算办完了婚礼”。国防科研贵在沉潜深耕、久久为功，党员干部干事创业也是如此，唯有摒弃浮躁之气，一以贯之砺品行、正操守、养心性，才能像王戟一样，在形形色色的诱惑面前稳住心神，把有限的精力投入到事业中。习主席指出：“自觉自律是人向上向善的内在动力。”立标尺是“知”，对刻度是“行”，二者诠释的正是日复一日的自律与勤勉。王戟将修身内化为习惯，对自己的要求近乎苛刻：他把“我自己来”当成口头禅，自己摇轮椅、自己拎包出差，将看文献、翻论文当成休息，以极致自律珍惜每一分钟的科研时光。可对待同事、学生，他却永远温暖包容，如沉静宽广的河水一般托举他人。一严一宽之间，尽显共产党人应有的修身格局：对内打磨自我、淬炼风骨，对外心怀善意、聚力前行。逆境砺初心，磨难见成色，困境中的坚守最能检验修身成色。“生活不能把我打倒，能够打倒我的只有我自己。”王戟历经磨难，却从未向坎坷境遇低头，不因病痛弱化责任担当。他始终坚守3条底线：不以身体博取同情、不以项目交换人情、不以名气谋取资源。尺不准则取舍颠倒，度不明则进退失据。党员干部就应像王戟那样，把标尺立在心间，把刻度刻进行动，在利益诱惑前拎得清轻重，在风险考验中站得稳脚跟，在高度自觉的自律自省中，让脚下的路越走越实。
