据载，东汉的苏章初任冀州刺史时，其故人在他的辖区任清河太守，有赃情。查处之前，他设酒肴招待太守，叙平生之好甚欢。太守以为苏章会因顾念旧情放过自己，大喜道：“人皆有一天，我独有二天。”苏章回答道：“今夕苏孺文与故人饮者，私恩也；明日冀州刺史案事者，公法也。”苏章秉公执法，毫不徇情，依律将其治罪。正因为苏章公私分明，秉持正道，才使得冀州境内“望风畏肃”。这种不以私情废公义之举，今天看来仍具有启示意义。人非草木，孰能无情。但对于掌握公权力的党员干部来说，要立身守正、秉公用权，很重要的一点就是绝不因个人感情、私人情谊而废弃公道正义。必须时刻摆正私情与公义、人情与原则的关系，做到讲原则不讲面子、讲党性不徇私情。守公心。常言道，“私心胜者，可以灭公”。公私关系若拎不清，就容易导致公与私、亲与清、情与法等关系失衡，出现假公济私、损公肥私、以权谋私等不良现象。为官从政唯有守公心、持公道，才能戒私念、弃私情。党员干部要做到不以私情废公义，就必须深刻认识到“共产党员是一种特别的人，他们完全不谋私利，而只为民族与人民求福利”，自觉摒弃私心杂念，追求“治官事则不营私家，在公门则不言货利”的清明，做到事事出于公心。讲原则。不以私情废公义，离不开党性坚强。黄克诚同志讲党性、抓党风“不怕撕破脸皮”，被赞誉为“党内夸刚正，人推黄克诚”。一次，他的一名老部下动用公款请客，黄克诚发现后照样硬起手腕处理。面对他人说情，黄克诚直言“越是老部下，才越要严格要求，不然怎么服众”。党员干部要做到不以私情废公义，就要增强党性原则和斗争精神，在大是大非面前不含糊、不退缩、不徇私，做到当个人感情同党性原则、私人关系同人民利益相抵触时，必须毫不犹豫站稳党性立场，坚定不移维护人民利益。求大我。“为一身谋则愚，而为天下谋则智。”现实中，个别党员干部遇事深陷人情网、困于私情关，就是因为没有摆脱小我的局限，心中装的只是“一身之屈伸，一家之饥饱”。“我们共产党人为的是大公、守的是大义、求的是大我，更要正心明道、怀德自重，始终把党和人民放在心中最高位置，做一个一心为公、一身正气、一尘不染的人。”历史和现实一再证明，心有大我者，方能登高望远、胸怀天下，升腾起“四面湖山归眼底，万家忧乐到心头”的情怀和担当，方能不为私情所扰，在公与私的抉择中立场如磐。党员干部要做到不以私情废公义，就要自觉舍弃小我、追求大我，以深厚情怀行担当之事，守公义之责，在投身强国建设、民族复兴伟业中绘就大写的人生。
