哨声响起，篮球场上展开了激烈竞争。空军某部某中队战士小刘压低重心，双臂张开，贴身防守持球进攻的指导员，寸步不让。赛场边，战友加油声阵阵。这幕官兵打成一片的热闹场景，此前并不多见。有一次，中队组织篮球友谊赛，干部战士混编对抗，可有些战士面对干部总是放不开手脚，防守时远远站着，只摆架势不敢贴身；进攻时不敢突破，而是优先“喂球”给干部。小刘平时跟战友打球拼劲十足，防守能力较强，那天面对连队干部却缩手缩脚，该顶出去的时候不敢顶，该拼抢的时候收着力。赛后，指导员问小刘为啥不使出真本事，他挠挠头憋出一句：“平时都是您教育管理我们，上了场突然要把您当对手，心里总觉得怪怪的。” 后来，连队几名干部骨干坐在球场边，聊起了这些细节。“战士们球场上不敢贴身，不是体力不行、技术不够，是心里有道‘上下有别’的坎”“说到底，问题出在我们带兵人自己身上。咱们平时跟战士坐在一起的时候少，心离得太远，与他们隔了一堵墙”…… 大家看着空荡荡的球场，心里都明白：战士的拘谨，不是靠几堂教育课就能解开，而要用行动告诉他们，干部骨干和战士一样，既是连队一员，也是球队一员。大家讨论商定，每个人都从自身做起，主动走近官兵，努力成为战士的知心人，打破这堵“墙”。一个周末，指导员找到小刘，把篮球往他怀里一塞：“走，咱们打一场。你放开手脚，我看看你的水平，该抢抢、该撞撞，不准‘放水’！”小刘愣了一下，咧嘴笑了。这次比赛果然不一样了。指导员带头拼抢，战士们也不再收力，小刘状态一新，贴身逼抢、卡位对抗，表现很积极。一次争抢，他和指导员撞在一起，双双倒地。指导员爬起来，拍拍身上的土，喊了一句：“好球，继续！” 中队没有仅满足于“打好一场球”，而是顺着这件小事，一点点把风气扭过来。干部不再坐在队部听汇报、盯台账，训练场上带头冲，执行任务一起上，公差勤务全员出力。工作之余，干部挨个铺位拉家常，不说官话、不摆架子，聊的都是心里话、实在事。渐渐地，中队氛围变了样。球场上，干部战士同台竞技，贴身防守、激烈拼抢，赢了一起欢呼，输了互相鼓劲；工作中，战士敢指出干部的疏忽，提出实在建议，不再一味盲从；生活里，官兵有话直说、掏心窝子，关系越走越近。
