新疆军区某团驾驶班上等兵谢小飞第一次见到那个笔记本，是在学驾驶的第3天。那天，驾驶班长、一级上士魏吉红从大衣口袋里掏出一个笔记本，细致地记录车况。 “那就是大家说的魏班长的‘驾驶宝典’吗？”谢小飞趁机借来翻看，发现本子的封皮磨破了，边角卷起来，内页泛着黄。扉页的一行字已有些模糊：“在高原，车不是工具，是战友。”往后翻，密密麻麻的记录映入眼帘：不同季节的引擎启动秘诀、特殊路况的脱困技巧、常见故障的预判与处置……每条经验旁都标注着日期。这本“驾驶宝典”，是用多年风雪征途换来的。谢小飞第一次跟着魏吉红凌晨查车，就印象深刻。零下20多摄氏度的天气，手电的光柱在夜色里晃来晃去，照着车窗上凝结的霜花。每检查完一台车，魏吉红都会掏出笔记本记下车况。40分钟下来，两人的双手已冻得麻木。 “车队还有很久才出发，咱们有必要这么早来查车吗？”面对谢小飞的不解，魏吉红摇了摇手中的本子，讲起一段自己的亲身经历：“高原驻训点的几台老车一到冬天就犯毛病，冻上一宿，第二天容易趴窝。后来，我开始记这本‘查修车笔记’，并用了一个笨招法，定好闹铃提前起床检查车辆，遇到问题第一时间修理。” 一次车队归来，魏吉红发现一台运输车底盘传来异样的“咯噔”声。他立刻叫停车辆，二话不说钻入车底。许久后，他慢慢爬出来，指尖沾满乌黑的油泥：“后桥出了问题！” 当晚他没回宿舍，一个人在车场拆检。次日清晨，故障车修好了。魏吉红满身油污、眼睛通红。他第一时间掏出笔记本，在最新一页上写下这次的修理要点。谢小飞后来听魏吉红说，是后桥差速器的一个轴承磨损了，如果不及时更换，车辆跑不了几天就会出现车轮抱死故障。谢小飞瞬间惊出一身冷汗，在高原达坂上，车轮抱死很可能意味着车毁人亡。谢小飞忍不住又借来那本笔记认真翻看。他忽然理解了班长写在扉页上的那句话，在这片平均海拔4800米的茫茫高原上，车是移动的堡垒，更是可以托付生命的战友。那天，谢小飞第一次作为主驾驶员执行高原运输任务。当车队安全返回车场，他郑重地取出自己的新笔记本，同样在扉页上誊写下那行浸透责任与使命的箴言。
